While the first round of the NFL draft is the most fervently followed and widely watched — the point in the event in which the biggest stars and most recognizable names come off the board — the second round is an important point for any franchise looking to build a roster capable of competing for a division title, making the playoffs and perhaps even seriously contending for a Super Bowl.

It’s a juncture in the draft in which not only future Pro Bowlers and Hall of Famers can be selected, but also immediate contributors who can be important pieces on a winning team.

In the 2024 NFL Draft Friday in Detroit, teams will aim to identify such players as the draft resumes and more talented college stars find their new homes.
